What is Energy Yoga?

And How Does it Benefit our Lives?

 

We have three bodies.  The first body is our physical body or visible body which we can see and feel with our five senses.  The second body is called our Energy Body and it is invisible and cannot be seen but only “felt" with what is commonly called our sixth sense. The third body is our spiritual body or soul body and it is the connection and awareness of all three bodies where true health, happiness and peace reside.

 

We can liken the energy in our bodies to the electricity that flows through our homes.  Should there be a faulty wire in our electrical system, electricity will be unable to flow properly and our home appliances and electrical devices will not function.  The same is true with the energy in our bodies. When we are over-stressed, under exercised and poorly nourished, the energy in our bodies becomes stagnant and blocked.  This can cause all sorts of mischief in our bodies including illness, disease, and mental and emotional instability.

 

In order to heal our bodies, minds and spirits we must first become more sensitive to our Energy Body.  Most of us, because of stress, sedentary life-style and busy minds, have something of an upside down energy condition. Ideally your energy should be centered in your lower abdomen, but if you are like most people, your energy is more concentrated in your head.  This leads to common conditions such as headaches, insomnia, high blood pressure, and digestive problems. Energy Yoga can return your energy system to a more healthy state.

 

Energy Yoga begins the process of becoming aware of and then opening these blocked energy patterns in our body.  As we begin to open and balance the energy channels and systems in our body, we feel better not only physically but are better able to manage and control our negative thoughts and feelings.  Over time and with consistent practice we can achieve strong physical health, happy and open hearts and peaceful and quiet minds.

 

What follows is a partial list of Energy Yoga exercises and healing sessions and their benefits:

 

Body Tapping/Bouncing:  We use our hands to tap our whole body.  This exercise will help circulation, open and release blocked energy, and enhance blood and energy flow throughout the 12 major energy meridians.  In addition it improves body awareness and connection.

 

Second Chakra Strengthening:  Our second chakra is the key to achieving and maintaining optimum physical health.  We use our hands to tap our abdomens which releases blocked energy and blood from the large and small intestines.  We also do a variety of exercises including Leg- Lifts, Dragon, Sleeping Tiger and Boat Poses to strengthen and warm this important area of our bodies.

 

Intestinal Exercises:  Our large and small intestines contain 2/3 of our blood supply and are especially sensitive to stress caused by negative thoughts and emotions.  By pushing and pulling using our abdominal muscles we can release a tension and blockages in our intestinal track.  When we begin to warm and open this area it will facilitate efficient circulation of blood and energy throughout the whole body.

 

Energy Dancing:  Life is vibration.  If you have ever held a small insect in your hands you can feel their tiny life force vibrating.   Humans have the highest and largest source of vibration in their bodies but many of us have lost connection to its healing powers.  Through energy dancing, slow energy movements and other forms of vibrating our bodies we can begin to reconnect and open up the energy centers and channels and reconnect to the healing powers of our own life force.  

 

Energy Sensing:  Relaxed concentration is an absolute prerequisite to being able to feel the flow of energy.  We usually tense up when we concentrate and let our thoughts wander without direction when we cease to concentrate. Therefore relaxed concentration may sound like an oxymoron.  However, only when we can direct our consciousness while maintaining a relaxed state of body and mind can we feel the flow of energy.  To feel energy we need to turn the focus of our awareness inward.  We must separate ourselves from our outer distractions, thoughts and emotions.  We call this process energy–sensing. 

 

Private Energy Healing Sessions: Our bodies contain a powerful healing force and through awareness and strengthening of this connection we can heal ourselves from physical, emotional and mental pain.  Energy Healing Sessions are available with either Wendy Hall, Chun Shim Nim, Mike Houlihan, Beth Houlihan and/or Arleen Damon.  These sessions use a variety of holistic tools to awaken the receiver to his/her own energy blockages and emotional/mental patterns. These sessions can run from 90- 120 minutes and are conducted in a newly equipped healing room.  Please contact RTW for more information.
